I am delighted to offer up this wonderful opportunity to paint the wild flowers of Italy in the secluded setting of Il Collaccio nestling in the Sibillini Mountains National Park, Umbria.
The workshop is suitable for beginners and improvers wishing to enjoy expert tuition from a member of the Society of Botanical Artists – a tutor for the SBA Distance Learning course. Paint the wild flowers of the region. The location offers breathtaking scenery, comfortable accommodation, and provides excellent cuisine, using local produce & fine wine in its highly regarded restaurant. Add to this, experienced tuition, a swimming pool, sightseeing excursions and the chance to meet like minded people and you have the recipe for a perfect holiday.

Il Collaccio is a holiday farm nestling in the heart of Umbria. There are 11 refurbished rooms in their hotel all with en suite. A number of the rooms have balconies to enjoy the breathtaking views. Two rooms can cater for disabled guests. In addition there are also a number of chalets and a campsite. Surrounded by beautiful countryside June is the peak flowering season and there are wild orchids galore and other wild flowers in abundance so there will be plenty to inspire you.

 The course will cover 5 days of the holiday. On day one to get off to a good start, the plan is to provide a full day’s tuition in the ground floor studio room beginning at 9.30 and after a break for lunch continuing until about 4pm. The remainder of the course will predominantly take place in the mornings offering one to one and collective tuition.

As this is your holiday working in the afternoon is not obligatory but you can of course continue to work independently if you wish.  Most afternoons I shall be on hand to offer my guidance if required.

To make the most of the location and your holiday the afternoons can be spent exploring the area or simply relaxing by the pool. Wednesday will be a totally free day so it will be possible to take advantage of any of the excursions to local places of interest. Non painters may wish to check out the many activities which can be arranged, or simply relax.

Although the course is primarily studio based some of you may also like to take the opportunity to paint flowers in their natural setting. I am sure that there will also be many chances to build a library of photographic reference to use as inspiration when you return home.
